Surgical Nurse/ Technician - (2018-6211)
Guthrie County Hospital has a part-time surgical nurse or Certified Surgical Technologist position available. Thisposition reports to the Surgery Manager, works an average of 24 hours per week, on varying shifts includingweekends, on-call and holidays.RN: Utilizes assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation in providing comprehensive and competent patientcare. Provides effective interaction with patients, family members and staff, and coordinates interdepartmentalpatient care activities while maintaining nursing standards, and policies of department and GCH.CST: Performs various functions within the Perioperative Surgical Services Department/Central Supply Serviceareas to promote and contribute to the enhancement of quality care for the surgical patient. Performs diagnosticmeasurements, maintains the proper function of surgical equipment along with a commitment to upholding thehighest principles of aseptic technique. Possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptictechnique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools andtechnologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.QualificationsRN Candidates:Graduate of accredited school of nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferredCurrent license in State of IowaBasic Life Support (BLS)Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred, required for Emergency DepartmentPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred, required for Emergency DepartmentTrauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred, required for Emergency DepartmentPrevious experience, preferred.Dependent Adult & Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter TrainingCST Candidates:High School diploma or equivalent requiredA minimum one (1) year of health care training or vocational schooling or completion of a specialized educationprogram for surgical procedures and surgical instrumentsCurrent Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)Prior orientation to surgical procedures and familiarity with the identification and use of surgical instruments andoperating room equipment required.Ability to identify and use perioperative equipment.Basic Life Support (BLS)Willing to become certified in sterile processingMust take call rotation
